Rambling Through Seattle, July 4th, 2001

 

 

As I rambled about I came to the Washelli Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Aurora Ave. A stunning sight. Thousands of white marble markers in a sea of green grass, against a blue sky. Some of the markers date from the Civil War. I tried to imagine all the lives represented before me, and I pondered the nature of their sacrifices...
